| Ann James makes stoneware vessels inspired by natural forms, landscapes and the processes of nature. Pinching and coiling techniques are used to hand-build the forms which then receive layers of coloured slips, mineral oxides and underglazes to create surfaces that seem both painterly and organic. The finished objects have a quiet poise but with the sense of movement and irregularity of nature and weather. They have been described as "having the wind in them".
